Chelsea manager Frank Lampard made a last-minute change – which saw him bring on academy goalkeeper Ethan Wady for their clash with Premier League champions Manchester City.
Lampard made the change to replace Joao Felix – as the Portuguese forward was sent off before the start of the match.
The Blues started Kepa Arrizabalaga in net and sent Edouard Mendy to the bench, but Wady was called up as an additional option.
Wady, the 21-year-old American from San Diego, California, has been with Chelsea since the 2017-18 season after his family moved to England.
He is yet to make a first-team appearance for Chelsea after loan spells at Tooting, Mitcham United, Dartford, Hendon and Woking.

Wady is in the lineup while Chelsea’s third-choice keeper Gaga Slonina is at the U-20 World Cup
Normally, fellow American Gabriel ‘Gaga’ Slonina would be the third-choice keeper for Chelsea.
However, the Chicago-area native is currently in Argentina as the starting goalkeeper at the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
In the opening match of the competition yesterday, Slonina kept a clean sheet against Ecuador.
With Ecuador taking eight shots, but none of them on target, the United States found the game winner in the second minute of stoppage time on a thunder strike from Real Sociedad prospect Jonathan Gomez.
Wady is unlikely to see action this afternoon at the Etihad – where Manchester City are celebrating their third straight Premier League title.
