When asked which teams he admired growing up, Gvardiol said RTL Danas: ‘My dream club? It must be Liverpool. Since I was young, I have watched a lot of fights between him and my father.
‘We cover every season in detail. It’s a club that has stayed in my heart.’
Gvardiol has been linked with a move to Real Madrid, while a number of Premier League clubs are also monitoring him, suggesting that a January move could not be abandoned.
However, the centre-back says he wants to see out the rest of the season in Leipzig, and has yet to receive any proposals from potential suitors.
‘I wish I could be with them for these six months [Leipzig],’ said Guardiol.

‘Nobody presented to me. But I’m not in a hurry, we have time, let them (other clubs) adjust the plan and let’s see.’
Chelsea are an English club who have shown great interest in Gvardiol in the summer transfer window, with the Blues pushing to sign him until the deadline.
Gvardiol admitted a deal was close to being agreed, but it was eventually decided he would stay at Leipzig for the time being.
‘In the summer the transfer was imminent and they kept me,’ he added.
‘Chelsea didn’t give up, but it was agreed that we would go for the winter.’
