Tom Brady should head to the San Francisco 49ers in what would be a ‘dream scenario’, says Keyshawn Johnson as speculation continues over what the 45-year-old will do next

ESPN NFL analyst and former Super Bowl champion Keyshawn Johnson called spending a year with the San Fransico 49ers a ‘dream scenario’ for Tom Brady.

Brady, 45, is currently deciding not only if he will play next season but where he will go as he is set to become a free agent this offseason.

‘Here is my dream scenario for [49ers general manager] John Lynch and [coach] Kyle Shanahan. There’s a guy in South Florida who’s 45 years old,’ Johnson said, as covered by NBC Sports Bay Area.

‘[If I’m the 49ers’ front office]I’m going to talk to him when it comes to free agency, and I’m going to say, ‘Hey, you’re going to ride off into the sunset with essentially the same type of team that you had when you left New England and you went to Tampa. [Bay].

‘I want you to come play for me [San Francisco], Tom. I have a strong defense. I have a running game. I have one of the most dynamic players in the NFL on the offensive side of the ball in Christian McCaffrey and Deebo Samuel, who is No. 2.’

Upgrades at receiver may not be necessary for a 49ers offense that has become one of the most dangerous in the league under coach Shanahan.

Shanahan and the 49ers made it all the way to the NFC Championship before being defeated by the Philadelphia Eagles, despite four different quarterbacks playing this year and injuries to each of them.

Second-year quarterback Trey Lance originally started the year before suffering a broken ankle. Jimmy Garoppolo suffered a season-ending broken leg.

The 49ers’ offense was led by the last pick of the 2022 NFL draft in rookie quarterback Brock Purdy before Purdy injured his throwing arm in the game.

San Francisco then inserted veteran journeyman Josh Johnson before he left the game in the concussion protocol only for an injured Purdy to finish the loss.

It was learned the next day that Purdy would be sidelined for approximately six months after tearing the UCL in his throwing elbow.

Brady has been incredibly durable throughout his 23-year career and has only missed one injury in his career when he suffered a torn ACL in 2008.

If Brady returns to the Bay Area, where he grew up rooting for the 49ers, that stamina will bring a refreshing change of pace to a San Francisco quarterback room that has clearly become used to dealing with injuries.
