Jamie Carragher has backed Manchester City to claim a historic Treble following their Premier League title triumph, insisting Pep Guardiola is one of the greatest managers of all time.
The prolific side were crowned champions on Saturday night, after Arsenal suffered a bitterly disappointing 1-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest – which both secured their survival in the top-tier and ended the title-race.
Guardiola’s team come into the weekend knowing that just one win from the three remaining games – starting with Chelsea on Sunday – will secure them the title. But, in the end, they sealed a third consecutive Premier League victory without kicking a ball.
Although City were quick to celebrate, having watched Arsenal play together as a squad, there was still work to be done, with Inter Milan and Manchester United coming up in the Champions League and FA Cup finals respectively.
City are favorites to win both clashes, and Carragher, speaking on Sky Sports following Arsenal’s defeat at Forest, backed the newly crowned champions to do so.

Jamie Carragher believes Man City can win the Treble after their Premier League triumph

The pundit also asserts that Pep Guardiola is one of the greatest football managers of all time
‘I think they will [win the Treble].’ Carragher said. ‘They will be big favorites against Inter Milan.
‘Also in the final of the FA Cup against Manchester United. It remains to be seen if they can do it but it feels like almost every season they have a shout to reach April or May to win the Treble.’
City have now won the Premier League in five of the last six seasons, with Liveprool taking them here in the 2019-20 campaign.
Carragher believes even Liverpool’s success should worry the rest of the league, however, insisting Guardiola – who he says is one of the best managers in football history – has set an unprecedented standard.
He continued: ‘The worry for the rest of the league is that the one season they didn’t win the Premier League, Liverpool did. Liverpool needed to win 26 and draw one of the first 27 games.
‘The standards are being raised very high by Pep Guardiola, I would say. It’s not just Man City. With another manager they would not have reached these heights.
‘I think we are looking at one of the greatest managers of all time, and for me he is the biggest difference maker at Man City.’

‘Incredible football club,’ he said. The resources they have, what adjectives do you use?

‘I love the rotation they do with John Stones coming out there a week. An incredible football club.’
