Lamar Odom opened up about his troubled life in the new Fox special Sex, Drugs and Kardashians, which aired Monday night.
The 43-year-old former NBA star spoke with TMZ founder Harvey Levin about his struggles with addiction, his marriage to Khloe Kardashian and much more.
We break down the biggest revelations from the one-hour special below.
Lamar’s Doctors Didn’t Think He’d Walk Again After Brothel Overdose
After signing his divorce papers from Khloe Kardashian, Odom headed to the Bunny Ranch, a legal brothel outside of Las Vegas, where he was found unresponsive.
‘All my doctors that were around me when– when the incident happened, it was like a walking miracle,’ Odom said.
‘When I came out, I was never supposed to walk or talk again,’ the NBA star said.
Meet Khloe Kardashian
Lamar had been playing for the Los Angeles Lakers for almost a decade when, in 2009, he went to a party, thrown by his new teammate Ron Artest.
‘Ron Artest did a welcome to the LA party, I was sitting in VIP … I was there with another girl, a really attractive girl, and I saw this girl,’ Odom began.
‘I knew Rob Kardashian, but I didn’t know who Khloé was at the time. I [let her know] who I am and it’s crazy because after 30 days, we’re getting married. That was scary,’ Odom admitted.

When Levin asked him how Kris Jenner treated him, Odom revealed, ‘I used to call her Mama. He showed so much love. He is cool. I loved him. We all went into business. It was a family business — you know that, Harvey.
I’m comfortable enough [for her to be my manager]. I’m happy enough to do it. … I made money. I came out on the positive side,’ he added.
Odom continued, ‘I think people don’t really give them credit for their family dynamic. The family will be passing by and I think they handled their mischief very well.’

Khloe and Lamar debuted on E! in April 2011, a year and a half after they tied the knot in September 2009 after just one month of dating.
‘I’m an amazing basketball player, but I know that being married to Khloé Kardashian gives me relevance in a lot of ways in the world of entertainment,’ Odom said.
‘I know what I signed up for. I am in business with my husband. It’s her business, so I’m making it my business,’ he added.
Odom added that the Los Angeles Lakers are, ‘very supportive’ of the show and he even asked Lakers legend Kobe Bryant about it.
‘He was like, “You know, if you bring it, [we] I don’t care.” And I ended up winning the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award, so I know he has a lot of respect for it. … That was the happiest of my adult life. … He got me everything I wanted,’ Odom said. .
Lamar’s Coming Down On Drugs… and Telling Khloe
Odom was traded from the Los Angeles Lakers to the Dallas Mavericks even though he did not perform well, showing that he was in a ‘dark place’ after the death of his cousin in 2011.
He returned to drug use, saying during the special, ‘Drugs – that’s my boyfriend. I have a wife and cocaine.’
He said he eventually told Khloe about his drug use, adding, ‘You can’t hide that forever. … She was hurt, but Khloé is a good wife. He is not dismissive or [saying], ‘Get away from me.’ … He is protective and he prefers to protect me. He [stood by me]. I mean behind the scenes, I put her through some s—t. Like s—t that you don’t know. … The stories you don’t know, it’s like, it’s really crazy.’
A Woman He Cheated On Called Khloe Because She Thought Odom Was Going To Kill Herself
Along with his drug addictions, Odom also deals with sex addiction, the two of which often go hand in hand.
She revealed, ‘Like what– what can I say, like, tell Khloe to, like, leave her some time to, like, even, like, go do drugs with some random woman.’
‘Where’s the girl, I’m too heavy on drugs, the girl is actually getting into my phone and actually calling Khloe. Like, “Yo, you have to go see him. He’s going crazy. He’s going to kill himself.” huh? And they took me to get help that night,’ Odom revealed.
Lamar Reveals Kris Jenner Told Him Khloe Was Into SoulCycle
Two years after Khloe first filed for divorce from Odom, the basketball player was photographed seeing Khloe outside of SoulCycle, which ultimately led to allegations that he had ‘stolen’ her.
Odom admitted that he was, ‘a little foggy’ though, ‘as I remember, he kind of hooked it up so I could meet Khloé at SoulCycle.’
‘I went down there and he kind of treated me like he didn’t know me, which was kind of hurtful. She was kind of, like, making a scene and then, like, paparazzi came out of nowhere. So that hurt me. Then it kind of came out that I tried to put my hands on her or something like that — then I was really hurt. I’m a bit defensive,’ he added.
When Levin added that Jenner seemed to ‘set her up,’ Odom added, ‘What would you set up? … What will you gain from that? Trying to destroy me or not make me want people to not come around or think of me a certain way?’
Lamar Thinks Bunny Ranch Owner Dennis Hof Tried To Kill Him The Night He Overdoses At Brothel
The day Odom finally signed her divorce papers, she went to the Bunny Ranch in Crystal, Nevada, revealing that she told them to charge her credit card $75,000 to keep her presence a secret.
Toxicology reports revealed that Odom had cocaine in his system, but he swore he did not do cocaine that night, and alleged that Dennis Hof, who owned the ranch and died in 2018, tried to kill him. .
‘That mother tried to kill me,’ Odom said, but when Levin asked why he wanted to kill her, Odom said, ‘I don’t know, Harvey. I do not know. This is all I can tell you. I went there, I didn’t do drugs that night. I ended up with drugs in my system.’
He added he was only there one night, adding, ‘There was only one night, as far as I’m concerned. I have arrived… Drink. And woke up three days later, tubes ripped out of my neck, I don’t know how I got there. Can’t talk or– or walk.’
When Levin asked if he was ‘positive’ that he wasn’t on drugs the night he overdosed, Odom said, ‘As long as I’m positive, I’m a Black man sitting in front of you.’
Lamar’s Look Back Before Getting Clean
After recovering from his ordeal at the ranch, he was in financial trouble which led him to sell his three NBA Championship rings.
‘That shows you how strong addiction is. We see it all the time. In Hollywood, we see it all the time. I’m just one of the lucky ones that it didn’t take,’ Odom said.
He added his, ‘love for life’ and wanted to say “Lord thank you for saving him” helped him to be sober now.
‘Thinking of cocaine, as fast as I say it, is as fast as I can get out of my mind to do it. I’m from the streets, like, I don’t know how a mother can put herself in the mix of any cocaine with the stuff that’s going on now — all this fentanyl and stuff. already. It’s not worth it,” he said.
Lamar Will Be Open To A Possible Reconciliation With Khloe Kardashian
Odom revealed that Khloe was the only woman who made him feel ‘secure’ enough to get married.
He said he wants, ‘of course’ to reconcile with Khloe but he feels he shouldn’t be in contact with her right now.
‘I’m not a loser and I feel like a loser. I just want to take Khloé to dinner. … [But] I’m very shy and I’m a Scorpio and I don’t want to be told no or denied. I’m scared,’ he said.
Lamar on Khloe’s Ex Tristan Thompson
Odom also opened up about Khloe’s most recent ex, Tristan Thompson, who she dated on and off from 2016 until they broke up last year.
‘When he gets hurt, of course I get hurt. I think what hurts me more is that it’s not my place to protect him,’ he said.
‘I can only protect him if he says, “Lamar, I need your help here,” he added.
Lamar Got His NBA Championship Rings Back… For Free
Long after selling his three NBA Championship rings due to financial difficulties, a chance encounter with a Los Angeles Lakers fan led him to get the rings back for free.
‘He was like, “I got the f***ing Rings bro. I’ve got to put them back where they belong,” Odon said.
‘Like, what are you talking about, man? He was like, “f***ing Championships ring.” This is what he said. “F***ing Championships ring, bro.” You gotta come to get them,’ explained Odom with a smile.
‘I was like, “When do you want me to get them?”‘ Odom said, and when Levin asked if he was charging Odom for the rings, he said, ‘No. He– he gave me free.’
‘That’s why Laker fans, you all are the best fans ever. Funny, I didn’t wear it much when I had it. It’s crazy now I feel like they always want to go with me– go with every outfit,’ she said, showing the rings to the camera.
