  • Kane’s future has remained the subject of speculation following Spurs’ struggles

Interim Tottenham boss Ryan Mason insisted Harry Kane was not letting fans know as the striker completed a lap of honor after their disappointing 3-1 home defeat to Brentford.

Kane was joined by his family and the rest of the Spurs squad in a mini lap of honor at the end of Saturday’s final home match of the campaign.

The England captain was seen waving to fans, amid ongoing speculation surrounding his future at the club.

Mason dismissed suggestions after the match that Kane’s wave was a farewell to supporters ahead of any potential summer move.

‘No, he waves to the crowd every season,’ Mason said after the match.

‘It’s the last home game of the season so he wants to show his appreciation for the support he’s received, and we’ve all received this season.’

Spurs’ interim boss was asked the same question during his previous spell in charge in 2021, with Kane staying at the club.

However, Kane pushed through a move that summer with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy blocking an approach from Manchester City.

Some reports suggest that Kane is planning to see out his contract before leaving next summer on a free transfer.

But the club could also listen to offers to sell him this year. Levy insists he will not sell Kane to an English rival, but Manchester United remain hot favorites to sign the 29-year-old in the off-season.

Peter Crouch has said that after speaking to Kane about his uncertain future at Tottenham, Man United is ‘the only real option’ if an exit were to happen.

Another report suggested that Kane’s representatives have met with PSG chief Luis Campos to discuss a move to the French capital this summer.

Spurs struggled despite Kane’s form in front of goal in the defeat to Brentford which saw the club drop to eighth in the Premier League and face the prospect of a season without European football.

Kane is still searching for the first major silverware of his career with Spurs having suffered poor exits from the Champions League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup this season.
