Southampton are expected to appoint Russell Martin as their new manager at the start of this week.
The 37-year-old Swansea City boss has a year left on his contract and Southampton are understood to be ready to make their formal approach and finalize the payment as early as Monday.
Martin has been identified as their main candidate to replace Ruben Selles who was put in charge following a poor spell under Nathan Jones.
Martin was due to fly to Washington on Thursday to discuss plans and budget with Swansea’s owners but remained in the UK as Southampton stepped up their interest.
