Thomas Muller put his post-match interview on hold to listen to the referee’s FURIOUS rant after Bayern Munich’s defeat to RB Leipzig… who heard the official clash with a former teammate-turned-pundit for ‘chatting such s**t’
- Thomas Muller stopped mid-interview to hear the referee’s exasperation
- Deniz Aytekin vented his frustrations about a former colleague turned TV pundit
- The official claimed that Manuel Gräfe was ‘chatting such nonsense’ during his examination
Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller interrupted his post-match interview to hear the furious referee vent about one of his former teammates.
The German forward captained his side in their 3-1 home defeat against RB Leipzig on Saturday afternoon, before conducting a typical post-match interview.
However, during this, the 33-year-old’s attention was caught by the angry official elsewhere in the media zone and, eventually, he stopped to listen to it.
Deniz Aytekin, the referee for the match, was heard launching a foulmouthed rant at former official – and now TV pundit – Manuel Gräfe.
It is understood the referee was reacting to a tweet from Gräfe which suggested he had a different interpretation of Aytekin in an incident in the game.

In a video that appeared on Twitter, Aytekin can be heard saying: ‘In the stadium, nobody talks about the ref. No one. And then Manuel Gräfe is sitting there in Berlin with his 180 kilos and chatting like that!’
At that point Aytekin spotted Muller standing just meters away, before the Bayern forward said: ‘We are listening carefully.’
Aytekin apologized to Bild-TV on Sunday afternoon. ‘It’s totally over the top. I’m so mad at myself,’ he said.
It was a day to forget for Muller and his Bayern teammates, who were thrashed at home to RB Leipzig.
Konrad Laimer, Christopher Nkunku and Dominik Szoboszlai were on target for the visitors, after Serge Gnabry had given the hosts a first-half lead.
The result leaves the Bundesliga title race wide open as Bayern’s lead at the top is reduced to just one point, with Borussia Dortmund having a game in hand on the leaders.
