Champions League quarter-final draw: Date, time, how to watch, teams involved

Manchester City and Liverpool are battling to join Chelsea in the Champions League quarter-finals, after Tottenham were dumped out by AC Milan… but when will the draw for the last-eight take place? And when will the matches be held?

The Champions League round of 16 continues on Tuesday night, as Manchester City look to join Chelsea in the quarter-finals of the competition.

Chelsea secured their place in the last eight with a crucial victory over Borussia Dortmund last week, while rivals Tottenham fell to AC Milan as they were dumped out of the tournament.

City drew 1-1 with German giants RB Leipzig in the first leg of their last-16 clash in February but are favorites to prevail at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Liverpool needed a miracle to progress to the quarter-finals, falling to a 5-2 defeat against reigning champions Real Madrid at Anfield. Their 7-0 demolition of bitter rivals Manchester United will give them hope, but following it up with a defeat at Bournemouth will surely be a reality check.

The quarter-final stage is where the Champions League really gets interesting, with seedings no longer a factor and clubs from the same country facing each other. But when will the draw take place? And when will the quarter-final ties be held? Sportsmail provides the answers below.

When is the Champions League quarter-final draw and how to watch it?

The draw for the quarter-finals of the Champions League will take place on Friday, March 17.

It starts at 11am, for those in the United Kingdom, and usually takes place at UEFA’s headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.

The draw will be available to stream on UEFA’s official website, while BT Sport will also televise it live.

Sportsmail will also be covering the draw live, so keep us up to date.

How will the draw work? And what about the semi-final and final?

The quarter-final draw will consist of eight teams, the winners of the round of 16 ties.

As stated, there are no longer any seeds, while teams from the same country can now square off. Those who compete together in the group stage can also be drawn against each other in the quarter-final stage.

I will also hold a draw to determine the ‘home’ team for the final, which will take place in Istanbul’s Ataturk Olympic Stadium, although that will be for administrative purposes only.

Who has reached the quarter-finals so far?

With the round of 16 still underway, four teams have so far confirmed their places in the quarter-final stage of the Champions League. Those are Chelsea, Benfica, Bayern Munich and AC Milan.
