Jesse Marsch has strengthened the backroom staff with former Man United No 2 Chris Armas joining as his new assistant – with the Leeds boss hailing the fellow American as a ‘fantastic addition’ (despite not being convinced stars nicknamed him ‘Ted Lasso’ at Old Trafford)
Leeds have confirmed the appointment of former Manchester United coach Chris Armas.
Sportsmail exclusively revealed last week that Leeds are close to Armas after they lost coach Mark Jackson to MK Dons earlier this season and have since been looking for a new assistant coach.
Jesse Marsch is now with his man while Armas joins the backroom team, subject to obtaining a work permit.

‘I am delighted to welcome Chris to Leeds United,’ said Marsch.
‘He will be a fantastic addition to the staff, he brings a wealth of experience from around the world and having worked closely with him in the past, I am sure he will help us improve every day.’
Director of football Victor Orta added: ‘We always have consistent ideas to improve the team around Jesse and with Chris it is a perfect fit, they have both worked together in the past and he has experience working with in the Premier League.
‘Chris is one of the best players in the history of the United States and his determination and ability will add value to our club and we are really happy to have him join us.’
Armas has Premier League experience having worked at Manchester United under interim manager Ralf Rangnick last season.
