‘Tubes… You’re a legend!’: Manchester City’s Ilkay Gundogan gives Soccer AM presenter Tubes a cake… as the presenter posts emotional message on Instagram ahead of iconic football’s final episode show on Saturday
Soccer AM presenter Tubes posted an emotional message on his Instagram, after Manchester City captain Ilkay Gundogan presented him with a cake calling him a ‘legend’.
It comes as Mail Sport revealed earlier this month that the iconic football show is set to broadcast its final episode on Saturday after being broadcast for almost 30 years.
Tubes, whose real name is Peter Dale, was originally an assistant producer on the show, but became known for his short comedy appearances, performing a hilarious rap before interviewing guests on his ‘one question and one question segment only’.
Having been part of the show for years now, Tubes took to Instagram earlier today to post an emotional message after Manchester City captain Ilkay Gundogan presented him with a cake at the club’s training ground.

The Sky Sports presenter was photographed chowing down on the sweet treat at City’s training ground.
He wrote on the post: ‘Last Soccer AM interview done,’ before adding a ‘crying face’ emoji to the caption.
It comes as Sky Sports has made a number of cuts this year, with Mail Sport previously reporting that football reporters at the company have been told to reapply for their roles.
The announcements that Soccer AM was to end at the end of the season were met with outcry from staff and who were reportedly ‘furious’ at the decision.
Presenters John ‘Fenners’ Fendley and Jimmy Bullard poked fun at the ongoing uncertainty over the programme’s future, in a sketch which featured an ‘elephant in the room’ amid a massive shake-up at Sky.
The broadcaster is also set to lose legendary Soccer Saturday host Jeff Stelling, who will retire after nearly 30 years with the sports broadcaster.
But with Soccer AM set to end this week, fans have poured in tributes to the Tubes, with some saying: ‘I’m going to miss you’
Another wrote: ‘End of an era’ while one user said ‘Take a bow’.

Sky are also set to add another live match to their Sunday broadcast schedule with Aston Villa’s game against Brighton being shown today at 4.30pm
‘Saturday will never be the same,’ commented one.
Earlier today, the Premier League announced a last-minute schedule change to this weekend’s final round of fixtures, with Sky Sports now set to show Aston Villa’s game against Brighton on Sunday.
The match could see Villa secure a place in their first European competition for a long time with Unai Emery’s team currently sitting seventh in the league.
A win this weekend would see them qualify for the Europa Conference League, with Tottenham and Brentford also likely to qualify.
