Joorabchian blasts Carragher for blaming Everton's crisis on his relationship with Moshiri

Football agent Kia Joorabchian has slammed Jamie Carragher after the Sky pundit claimed he had an ‘unhealthy relationship’ with Everton owner Farhad Moshiri.

The Toffees sacked Frank Lampard earlier this week, with the club sitting 19th in the table and the club’s unpopular board – including Moshiri – facing significant criticism and protests from fans in past months.

Carragher addressed the issue on Monday Night Football, claiming Everton were ‘the worst run club in the country’ and insisting Moshiri’s relationship with Joorabchian had ’caused a lot of problems’ at the club.

However, the agent hit back at these claims on Wednesday and launched a tirade against Carragher, detailing all his involvement with the club.

Speaking to talkSPORT about Carragher’s comments, Joorabchian said: ‘When Simon (Jordan) says something I respect it because he is an educated man.’

Referring to the 2018 incident in which Carragher spat at a car, which contained a 14-year-old girl, he added: ‘[He is] unlike someone like Jamie Carragher who unfortunately lives in a glass house, spits on car windows and is uneducated in terms of his background when he comments.

‘I made three transfers of my players (to Everton) during Farhard’s tenure at Everton.

‘Richarlison, who was successful. Bernard’s free transfer from Shakhtar, and again he is a player who is not a complete disaster and he has done very well.

‘We have Carlo Ancelotti who is the only manager they have taken (from my clients) as a recommendation and we always do the same with every club in the Premier League if they are looking for a manager – we always show our client.

‘We were also involved in the El-Ghazi loan which was part of the Lucas Digne transfer and an FFP scenario and unfortunately that didn’t work out due to the change of manager and he wasn’t in the new manager’s plans.’

Joorabchian further criticized Carragher’s position as a pundit and again rejected claims he has an unhealthy role at the club – insisting he pushed for an alternative candidate to Lampard before appointing him in January.

He added: ‘I’ve been busier at other clubs. Last year I recommended Vitor Pereira and they wanted Lampard and that was a board decision.

It was even mentioned on Sky [Everton chairman] Bill Kenwright and [Everton CEO] Denise Barrett-Baxedale had nothing to do with it.

‘Jamie said that and, again, people who say things like this haven’t done their homework and misinformed the public and that’s really unfair for those people.’

‘I know for a fact that Farhad did not have a single vote in the manager last time. He created a board, Denise Barrett-Baxedale was very involved.

‘In the summer we offered them many players but they rejected them all. Tarkowski, Coady, Maupay, McNeil and the list goes on. All the loans and all the signings they did were purely theirs – we had no involvement whatsoever.’

When asked if he had been busier at other clubs, the agent confirmed that he had been and then released a list of players he had offered to Everton but had been rejected by the club.

He added: ‘We are talking to all the owners, I am talking to some club owners [in the Premier League], but the point is, what is our job? Our job is to show what we have as a client list and say, “This is what we have”.

‘And Everton didn’t take any of our advice. So we can’t be that influential.

‘In the past we offered Bruno Guimaraes £16m when he left Athletico Paranaense. They didn’t like him and went to (Jean-Philippe) Gbamin.

‘Diego Carlos was offered £11m before he went to Sevilla and has now gone to Aston Villa.

‘We offer (Real Madrid defender) Eder Militao when he leaves Sao Paulo.’

The former Liverpool defender said: ‘I said on this program six to 12 months ago that Everton were the worst-run club in the country, and it was not an idle statement – I believed it.

‘I’m not saying that as an ex-Liverpool player, I’m saying that as an ex-Everton fan.

‘You start with the owner, Farhad Moshiri, he doesn’t know what he’s doing but he has a lot of money. He put in a lot of money.

‘He had an unhealthy relationship with Kia Joorabchian, and that partnership caused a lot of problems at Everton. Players are coming in, managers are being replaced left, right and centre. Why has every Everton manager failed? Why?’

Everton are currently 19th in the table with just three wins and 15 points from 20 games this season.

Sportsmail reports how Marcelo Bielsa is the No. 1 choice to replace Lampard, but the former Leeds boss is looking for reassurances before taking on the role.
