Jurgen Klopp will be given the ‘financial backing he needs to rebuild his Liverpool squad’ this summer with a new head of research.
After challenging for the quadruple last season and reaching the highest possible number of fixtures, Klopp’s side have struggled this year and sit 10th in the league after 20 games.
Some have pointed to the age of the squad as a factor in their decline, with several key players including Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk all in or approaching their 30s.
According to The Timeswill give Klopp the chance to improve his aging side, as the manager is keen to stay at the club and will be given ‘significant funds’ to bring in new players.

Liverpool expected to ‘bring Jurgen Klopp back to revamp his squad this summer’

It comes after a shocking start to the season that saw Liverpool drop to 10th after 20 league games
The Times also says that Liverpool will be delighted to introduce a new head of eesearch, as the club has already chosen a candidate who ‘works in the game and is considered a leading operator in the field of football data.’
They will replace Dr Ian Graham in the role, which could prove a tough act to follow as he is credited with masterminding some of Liverpool’s key signings over the last decade, including Klopp’s.
Graham is currently believed to be serving a notice period that ends in May.
While the outlook may look brighter for future seasons, the Reds are currently enduring a dismal run that has left them without a league win in 2023.
They have lost each of their last three games in the league, conceding three goals in each match, and are 22 points behind league leaders Arsenal.
The new signings brought in this season, especially Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo, have struggled to reach the heights expected of them so far, as Liverpool have scored just one league goal since the start of the year.
They next face a tricky Merseyside derby against an Everton side who look rejuvenated under Sean Dyche and beat league leaders Arsenal in their last match.
